Incoming 9th Graders

2025 High School and Middle School XC Summer Camps     
Who:
All middle school and high school cross country/distance athletes wanting to prepare for the upcoming fall cross country season. Incoming 6th graders are also welcome to join our middle school camp. 

What:
A 9 week summer training program for dedicated cross country runners looking to get ready for the 2025 season. 

When:
​Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. starting June 9th to August 9th. High school athletes will also have the option to meet on Saturday mornings as a team throughout the summer. 

Where:
We meet at a variety of locations throughout the Highlands Ranch area to run. Practice locations will be posted each week at www.vistanationxc.com

Fees:
  • $150 for all Middle School athletes (6th, 7th, and 8th graders in the fall of 2025)
  • $200 for all High School athletes (9th-12th graders in the fall of 2025)


Registration Due Date:
Please register online before June 9th


Coaches:
The high school camp will be led by Mountain Vista High School Head Cross Country Coaches Josh Brandt and Ethan Rouse. Assistant coaching staff will also be helping throughout the summer to ensure proper supervision on every run.

Middle School Camp:
The middle school camp will meet at the same times and locations as the high school camp. However, middle school athletes will be under the direct supervision of Mountain Ridge Middle School Coach Karen Sprafke throughout the summer. Training will be kept age appropriate for our younger runners at camp. Incoming 6th graders are also welcome to join our middle school cross country camp this summer. 


Attendance:
Attendance is 100% optional. Many athletes will go on vacation or be out of town during the summer. Although we will offer a structured camp 5 to 6 days a week, athletes will not be turned away if they cannot make it to each practice.  


Training:
All running programs are based on the experience and ability of each individual runner.  We will also be working on flexibility and strength at camp to ensure that everyone stays strong and healthy. Every athlete will be given an individualized training plan to follow each week on the Final Surge App. 


Final Surge:
Throughout the summer and fall season the coaches will be sending out workouts virtually through "The Final Surge".  This will give runners the opportunity to view their weekly training plan throughout the summer and fall. This will also allow the coaches an opportunity to help you with your running by being able to coach you both in person and virtually. 


Final Surge Registration Instructions 
Athletes that register for the summer (both high school and middle school) will received an email inviting you to be a part of "Vista Nation XC" virtual coaching through the final surge if you have not already registered in the past. Here is what needs to be completed:
  1. Athletes should check their preferred email that they used at registration and look for an invite from the Final Surge to join Vista Nation XC. 
  2. Once you have accepted the invitation, the coaches will add you to a training group.
  3. Download the Final Surge to your smart phone. You will receive team notifications via the app along with comments to your training log from the coaches. 
  4. Upload a picture to your Final Surge profile so that the coaches and your teammates know who you are.
  5. Use Final Surge as your running log by uploading your runs everyday into the app or web platform. Coaches will be able to give you feedback virtually on your running. Only coaches can see your log, other teammates cannot.
  6. Log your workouts everyday in Final Surge to earn your aerobic monster shirt (both high school and middle school runners).
