Thank you to everyone that came down to CO Springs for the meet. If there was any doubt who had the most fans at State just look at the picture up top. Vista Nation was in full force and there is no doubt that our fan support pulled our athletes along. We talk a lot about the 95 kids that it takes to push each other all season, but the parents and family members that support our TEAM are just as important. Thank you for everything you have done for us this year.
I want to give a big thank you to all of the coaches as well for all the time they put in this season. Coach Woolley who gives up time between work and family to be with us. Coach Cooke who has a newborn (future Vista Nation runner!) son at home, but is committed to the kids on the team as well . Coach Sprafke for all the time she dedicated this summer and to the middle school kids in the fall. And of course Coach Cox who is the anchor of our coaching staff and lets face it....puts up with the men on staff:) I want to especially thank my good friend Coach Eric Selle. After the 2008 state meet where we took 17th in the girls race, and qualified only 1 boy, I told Selle that I thought Mountain Vista could be a very special program. We just needed to be patient and in 5 years time could be in a different place. Selle always believed we could get there and on Saturday we did. Thanks again Coaches. It's pretty cool to be able to do what you love the most with people that are your best friends.
When you prepare, great things can happen. We started preparing the first week in June with BIG goals in mind, but for many of us that preparation started 4 years ago. I am very proud of everything you accomplished this season and the direction you have taken the TEAM. Seniors, you are some of the best people we know and we are all very proud of you. Congrats to everyone on a great state meet performance!

Banquet Information
Our banquet is Friday, November 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the MVHS Commons. Like last year, we will have a pot-luck style banquet. Kimmy Romine has created a sign-up sheet on Sign-up Genius. Please feel free to sign up for more than one slot. We have 93 athletes, and all parents, siblings and other family members are invited - so we will need a lot of food, supplies and help. Here is the link to sign up: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/60B0C4EA4AA2CA57-banquet/6138940
Athletes, parents and family members - feel free to dress up! Gentlemen (athletes), if you have a suit wear it and lets keep the tradition alive!(you don't have to wear a suit, we just think it's fun to class the joint up a little!) Let's party in style.
If you have questions please contact Kimmy Romine.

End of Season XC Info
Uniform Turn-in
Please turn in your uniform and warm-ups this week to avoid receiving a fine card. Uniforms should be turned in to Coach Selle's room this week, or to Coach Dalby during NXN practices. All uniforms should be returned cleaned and washed.
Pre-Season Athlete Track Meeting and Winter Conditioning
The pre-season track meeting will be on Wednesday, November 7th right after school (3:00). It will be in a room TBD at MVHS. Two things that will be different about this winter:
1) Student-Athletes will need to pay $50 for the 3 month off season conditioning program this year.
2) We will start official off season conditioning for track this year on December 3rd. We will also schedule some runs during winter break for the kids to be able to meet and have people to run with. Seniors will be asked to lead some of the practices during finals week and during winter break.
Mileage Club T-Shirts for Winter Conditioning
We will do mileage clubs (just like we did during the summer) again this winter. T-Shirts will be awarded to anyone who runs the following miles between the dates of December 3rd to March 3rd :
200 miles
300 miles
400 miles
500 miles
600 miles
I will hand workout logs out to people before this time starts. Anyone that wants to earn a mileage club shirt will need to log their miles during the winter. I am looking into online options to do this instead of pencil and paper.
Time off after XC
Everyone on the team regardless of running varsity, open, or JV should take 2 weeks off from running before returning to consistent training again. If you are ready to start running again before December 3rd go out and do 20 to 40 minutes (depending on how you feel) 6 to 7 days a week. You are welcome to join us at the NXN practices if you would like so that you have a TEAM to run with.
Individual Goal Setting Meetings
Anyone wishing to sit down with me to plan out goals for the upcoming track season is encouraged to do so. I will be happy to sit down and talk with anyone on the team about track goals you may have. All you need to do is email me or talk to me at practice to set up a time. [email protected]
Vista Nation XC Christmas Party
I need 3 or 4 of the athletes who want to take over this years Christmas run/party to contact me. This was a lot of fun last year so lets make it a tradition! I'm looking at Friday December 21st or Saturday December 22nd as the date for the run/party for those that are in town.
