First Official Day of Practice

Monday, April 26th.
All athletes should plan to meet on the MVHS track at 3:10 prepared to workout.

Gear Order
All gear for the season is optional for athletes to order. The gear site will be open from Denver Athletic until Thursday night. Gear orders will be handed out at practice around May 13th.

Start of Track & Field Season D Information

Track & Field Athletes and Parents,

Welcome to the start of the 2021 season! After a long wait for season D to begin the coaching staff is excited to finally get things rolling next week.

I will be sending out additional information about Season D this weekend. For now, here is what everyone needs to know in order to be ready for practice on Monday.

First Official Day of Practice:

Monday, April 26th.
All athletes should plan to meet on the MVHS track at 3:10 prepared to workout.

Practice Times and Locations:

Most practices will be held from 3:10 to 5:00 p.m. at the MVHS track for the remainder of the school year.
Beginning the week of May 31st, we will be transitioning to morning workouts once school is out for the summer. Individual event coaches will set the time for these practices.
Occasionally, the distance runners will meet off campus to run at local parks and trails during the season.
Saturday practices will be left up to the discretion of each event coach on the weekends athletes are not competing.

Sports Physicals:

Students registering for Athletics must have a current physical examination on file in the Activities office before the student is authorized to participate in practice on Monday.
You can upload your physical to your student's account when you register or anytime when you receive a new from the doctor.

Physicals are valid for 1 year from the date of the last exam

There are still a few meets that may be added to the schedule for the season.
Individual meet hosts will decide on all COVID protocols and procedures this season. This includes the number of fans that may attend meets, and mask requirements.
Meet information will be posted on the team website throughout the season. Typically on Sunday evenings.

Parent Meeting:

There will not be a formal parent meeting at school this year. Instead, additional information regarding team policies, procedures, and other relevant information will be emailed to everyone next week.
This information will also be posted on our team website.

Uniform Checkout and Team Gear:

Uniform checkouts for the season will take place at our team time trial/practice on Saturday, May 1st from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Track and field gear to order for the season is optional, but will be made available for online purchase next week from Denver Athletic. The link will be sent out to all athletes and families, and posted on our team website.

Winter Race Series #3
When: Saturday
What: 800 and 1600 events
Where: Niwot HS (in Boulder County) starting at 11 a.m.

Niwot High School Map is attached (PDF). Includes the locations of the warm-up area, check-in table, restrooms, etc... If we could keep athletes off the track until 15-20 minutes before they race that would be great!
Niwot Trails Map is attached (PDF). Just in case you want to send your athletes out for a longer cool-down or go for your own run! There are so many great trails and dirt roads to run on directly connected to the track!
COVID GUIDELINES: Nothing new here, the fewer spectators the better...
- INFIELD ACCESS: The infield is reserved for athletes and coaches only. Athletes should not be on the track until they are within the 20-minute window of the start of their race.
- WARM-UP/COOL-DOWN AREAS: Please use the trails to run on and use the soccer fields for drills, strides, etc...
- SPECTATORS: 2 spectators maximum allowed per athlete. In order to keep crowd numbers low, spectators should only be in the stadium no earlier than 10 minutes before their athlete is racing. Spectators should leave the stadium as soon as their athlete finishes. Please do not congregate at any time.
- SPECTATOR VIEWING: Spectators are not allowed on the infield or on the track

Registration for the CHSAA Track & Field Season
Registration for season D will open up on Monday, April 5th, and will close on April 19th. Please check the school athletic site for information about Season D registration:

Time Trial on Friday, April 9th
The distance is still TBD, but we plan on doing something different this day. The sprinters are also joining us. The distance will either be a 300, 600, 1K, or some other crazy distance that we decide will be fun to run. Details will be given at practice during the week.

Practice Schedule for Monday April 12th and Tuesday April 13th
We will not officially meet as a team on Monday, April 12th and Tuesday April, 13th. Instead, I am scheduling a few days for you to either run on your own, or call a teammate to run with. One day will be a long run and the other day will be a recovery run.
