I can's say enough about what an awesome accomplishment winning both a boys and girls state championship in the same season is. This is a reflection of our entire TEAM's hard work, commitment, and dedication. Not just the 7 boys and 7 girls that ran the race. All season you pushed each other to be our collective best, and it paid off in a big way on Saturday. Well done!

Now our focus changes to prep for NXRSW, but please know we are proud of all 110 members of our TEAM and everyones contribution to Vista Nation.

Uniform Turn-In
Please bring your uniform to either Coach Selle's room, or Coach Dalby's room this week. You can also bring uniforms to practice. Uniforms are due by Friday. Uniforms not turned in will result in a fine of $100.

Transportation: The bus is leaving school at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Team Dinner will end promptly at 7:45pm to ensure proper sleep.
Parents are welcome to join the festivities.

Team Dinner Details
Wednesday, October 18th - Team Dinner at Caroline Eck's House at  5:30ish. Address will be sent out via text on "Remind" (sign-up if you have not already) 
Parents are welcome to stay for the dinner! 

Remember to bring your assigned item for 8-10 runners.  
  • Keep it healthy.
  • Label your dish and remind your athlete to bring your dish home.
  • We have plenty of serving utensils so no need to send them. 
  • Help clean up and a huge Thank You to Julia Chambers and her family.
 
Food Assignments:
  • Sophmores- Drinks or Desserts (Water or Chocolate Milk, no soda)
  • Juniors- Fruit or Salad (No Veggie Trays Please, they don’t get eaten)
  • Seniors- Pasta Dishes (No Cold Deli Pasta Please, they don’t get eaten either)
  • Freshman - Protein (Meatballs, Sliders, Wings, Sloppy Joes, Chicken Tenders/Nuggets, Crock Pot BBQ)

5A Region 5
When: Thursday
Where: Monument Valley Park, Colorado Springs
Out-of-Class: after 4th at 1:15
Transportation: The bus leaves at 1:30. There will be a return bus for athletes after the meet.
Race Times: 5A Girls @ 4:00, 5A Boys @ 4:30
State Qualifying: The top 4 teams in each race qualify for next weeks state championships. Individuals in the top 15 that are not on a qualifying team will also qualify for the meet as an individual
All-Regional Team: Top 15 runners in each race will be named to the 5A All-Regional Team

When: Wednesday, October 9th
Where: Polson Ranch in Sedalia 
Transportation: There are 2 busses leaving Vista at 1:15. Please arrive by 1:00. There is only one bus returning to school. Please ride home with your parents after the meet, or a teammate if possible.

Fall Break Practices and League Championships
Here is the important information to know for the week of Fall Break from October 7th-15th.
  • We will practice at 8 a.m. each day, including Saturday's.
  • Seniors will lead "doubles" that week at 4 p.m.
  • The League Championship is on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 11th.
  • To be eligible for the varsity or JV races at Leagues athletes will have to be at all practices over fall break.
  • The 5A Region 5 state qualifier is the week after break. We are able to run 9 boys, and 9 girls in this competition. To be considered for the Regional team athletes must be present at all practices over break.
  • If you are traveling with the team to AZ for NXR in November, you must be at all practices during fall break to be eligible for that trip

Nike Cross Regionals Southwest Update
If you have not already done so please email Mr. Walton about your intentions to travel to Arizona in November if you are making the trip. If you do not let Mr. Walton know ASAP there will not be a hotel room reserved for you in AZ, or space in a car.
