Broomfield Shootout this Saturday at Broomfield HS
Great job to those that competed at the DCSD Snowbird Meet on Friday. We had a great group of athletes compete in some pretty harsh conditions. Overall the team did very well, but was probably highlighted by Jordan Burton, Taylor Marks, and Jessica Gonzales all placing in both the 100 and 400 at the meet. Great job ladies! Here is the link to the meet results:

Out of 27 teams the girls finished 5th and the boys 6th. Not a bad start for our first meet of the season.

We were finally able to get in a meet this week! Thank you to all of the parents that came out to help and watch on Friday. If you missed the results here they are:
Dual Meet Vs Rock Canyon Results (click for results)

There were lots of encouraging performances from our athletes, especially the young kids. The varsity league relays was canceled due to the weather, but things look much more favorable this week. Below is info for March 11th to the 17th.

State Basketball Final 4:
This Friday our boys basketball team is facing Eaglecrest HS in Boulder at 8:30 p.m. We are encouraging every member of the track & field team to make the trip up to CU that evening to support the basketball team, even those that are competing in Pueblo on Saturday. We are rooting for the boys to win. If they do, the championship game is on Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. We anticipate that the Pueblo meet will be completed by 5:00 leaving enough time for athletes to make the trip up to Boulder after the meet. Athletes are free to leave with their parents after their last race to get to the game. If the meet runs late, and you are scheduled for a later event, we will not hold you back to ensure that you make the game. The drive from Pueblo to Boulder is about 2 and 1/2 hours. See below for CSU-Pueblo, Banana Belt Classic meet info.

JV at Douglas County on Thursday at 3:30

Bus: Leaves Vista at 2:30. Athletes competing are out of class at 2:15. There is no return bus after this meet. Athletes should arrange a ride home w/ their parents or a teammate. Athletes should not drive to the meet on their own. If this causes a conflict please contact Coach Dalby.
Line-ups: These will be posted by Monday night and emailed out to the team. Distance
line-ups for the meet are already posted below.

CSU-Pueblo Banana Belt Classic:
We put this meet on the schedule for 2 reasons.
  1. The CSU-Thunder Bowl is the fastest track in Colorado. The 2012 and 2013 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships are held here.
  2. The weather in Pueblo tends to be more favorable this time of year compared to the metro area. The forecast for Saturday is in the low 70s with minimal wind.
Where: CSU-Pueblo Thunder Bowl
When: Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m.
Meet Schedule and Other Info:  http://co.milesplit.com/meets/128861-banana-belt-classic

All athletes competing should be at Vista by 6:15 a.m on Saturday. You are

March 4th-10th

3/3/2013

Picture
Our first week of practice was a very solid one. The weather didn't necessarily cooperate but we had a lot of kids out working hard and making the most of our situation. Currently, there are 145 athletes signed up for track! This is the biggest track TEAM we have ever had at Vista.

I have been especially encouraged by the effort of the different training groups during the first week. The throwers have been doing an excellent job preparing for this season ever since December and are ready for their best spring yet. The Distance runners were able to get in an excellent week  of practice and got outside every single day. The sprinters/jumpers were limited due to the track being covered but still made it out several times this week and on the other days did a great job working out in the halls.

Let's keep up this type of enthusiasm and effort up into week 2. Weather permitting, we will finally get a chance to compete this week.

Schedule for March 4th-10th
